Description

Let the music of celebrated composer, George Gershwin, sweep you away at this special performance by professional pianist/vocalist, Freddy Allen. Hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be open to adults 21 and older.

$50 in advance ($60 at the door).

All proceeds support restoration efforts and operations for the historic Hauberg Estate.

(About Freddy Allen)

Freddy Allen began to play the piano at the age of four years under the tutelage of a professional pianist: His great-great grandmother. In his extensive musical career, Freddy has excelled as a pianist, vocalist and accompanist and has been recognized for his ability to perform various styles of music including classical, jazz, blues, contemporary and musical-theater. He started his professional career at the age of thirteen by performing in restaurants, nightclubs, theaters and resorts. Freddy studied music at Central Methodist University and afterward continued his musical career in Columbia, MO and St. Louis, MO and at Lyceum Theater in Arrow Rock where heserved as assistant musical director.

Freddy has been noted as one of the “best accompanists in his field” and has performed as audition and accompanist for the Midwest Theater Auditions, Mid-America Theater Auditions and Actors Equity Association in New York City local theater auditions, the Chicago Disney auditions, for classes in the Musical Theater Department at Northwestern University and continues to accompany singers of various genres. Freddy has played for hundreds of private and corporate events, weddings, and charitable functions and parties. Several of his notable clients include The Chicago Sinfonietta, Phizer Pharmaceuticals, Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios, The City of Chicago and former Mayor, Richard M. Daley, and North Halsted Market Days Street Festival.

In Chicago, Freddy served as Music and Entertainment Director at Voltaire Cabaret. At Voltaire, Freddy co- produced, music directed and performed with an ensemble of singers and dancers in hundreds of musical reviews and cabaret shows. Freddy has become renowned not only for his talents as pianist, but also musical director for the music and comedy act, Amy & Freddy with singer/comedian, Amy Armstrong. The duo has toured cities all over U.S. and Europe.Amy & Freddy have been the opening act for great entertainers as Bea Arthur, Phyllis Diller, Kathy Griffin, Mary Wilson and The Supremes, Jennifer Holliday, and Leslie Jordan, to name a few. They have performed on over 60 cruises, many of which they were the headline entertainers. In their 22 years together, Amy & Freddy produced four albums praised by critics and audiences, alike. In their last album, We Get Along, four of Freddy’s original songs are featured including the album’s title song.

During his career, Freddy has been awarded The Tim Mutti Piano Scholarship, The Liberace Foundation Piano Scholarship, and placed second in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (Missouri Competition) Freddy is the recipient of Chicago After-Dark Award for Outstanding Cabaret Artist (twice), and the Chicago Free Press “Pressie” award for Best Local Entertainer.

When not on the road with Amy & Freddy, Freddy performs solo as a jazz/swing pianist and vocalist, and works as a free-lance accompanist, music director, and vocal coach. Freddy recently moved to Davenport, IA to be closer to family. He is excited to carry on his career in the Quad City area, as well as continue to perform with his long-time, musical counterpart, Amy Armstrong.
