Event description
Please join us for a special evening with Father Patrick Desbois, an internationally renowned humanitarian and human rights activist

About this Event

Father Patrick Desbois is the founder of Yahad-In Unum (“Together in One”), an organization dedicated to collecting eyewitness testimonies and documenting sites of mass crimes committed against Jews and Roma by Nazi Germany and their collaborators during the Second World War.

During his presentation, Father Desbois will discuss his research with Yahad-In Unum and his recent work investigating ISIS for their genocide of Yazidis in Iraq. He will also speak about the rapid growth of anti-Semitic rhetoric and organized violence throughout the world, as well as offer his counsel to those seeking to resist it. His books will be available for sale and he will sign copies following his discussion.

Father Desbois has received numerous accolades for his ground-breaking work on the Holocaust, including the Legion of Honor, the highest French order of merit; the Humanitarian Award from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and the 2017 Lantos Human Rights Prize. The work of Yahad-In Unum has been lauded by world leaders including Pope Francis and French President Emmanuel Macron. Father Desbois has been featured twice on the television program 60 Minutes.

He is the author of The Holocaust by Bullets: A Priest’s Journey to Uncover the Truth Behind the Murder of 1.5 Million Jews, winner of the 2008 National Jewish Book Award. His recent book, In Broad Daylight: The Secret Procedures Behind the Holocaust by Bullets, reveals the untold story of how the murder of more than two million Jews was carried out. In 2015 he launched “Action Yazidis,” an initiative that collects evidence on the Yazidi genocide committed by ISIS and documented in his most recent book, The Terrorist Factory: ISIS, The Yazidi Genocide and Exporting Terrorism.

An Evening with Father Patrick Desbois and the Holocaust by Bullets exhibition currently on display in the Criss Library at the University of Nebraska at Omaha are both proudly sponsored by the Sam and Frances Fried Holocaust and Genocide Academy.
