Event description

Description

Author, speaker, and public theologian, Brian McLaren will speak at an event hosted by the Parish Resource Center on Saturday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at Highland Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, PA.

McLaren will speak about being church in a divided America: When we see polarization reaching dangerous levels politically, it makes being church harder than ever, as congregations, as denominations, and as ecumenical networks.

Do we sort out into red churches and blue churches? Do purple churches walk on eggshells to avoid offending anyone?

How can we understand the roots of our division, and how can we respond creatively and courageously, to become agents of healing rather than mirrors of anger and fear?

McLaren will draw from over twenty years in the pastorate and over ten years working as an ecumenical and multi-faith activist to offer help to Christians in our region. We'll have ample time for dialogue as well.

Nicholas Kristof calls McLaren, “Provocative and Powerful.” Richard Rohr writes, “Anything written by Brian McLaren is always filled with insight, courage, and creative theology, refining the meaning of orthodoxy in our time.”
