Black Kite Cellars, based in the Anderson Valley, is a new find for Barndiva. Founded by Tom and Rebecca Birdsall after a bicycle tour down the Route de Grand Crus in Burgundy, France. Rebecca’s parents purchased a remote, hillside vineyard, in the Deep End of Anderson Valley which would become Kite’s Rest Vineyard. Nestled next to the Navarro River, just 10 miles from the ocean, Tom and Rebecca grafted over the old-vine Gewürztraminer to Pinot Noir in 1999, with the hopes that they would be able to produce wines that would combine their passion for Burgundy and the dynamic terrain of Anderson Valley. Black Kite Cellars is a small, family-owned and operated winery. Since their founding in 2003 they have committed to making the finest site-specific Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from great vineyards along the California coast. With the third generation now becoming involved, theyintend to continue this journey for many years to come.
