On Tuesday, March 17th, James Beard Award Winning chef Nancy Silverton will be joining chef Alon Shaya at Saba Restaurant to prepare a special, multi-course dinner together for one night only. A live auction hosted by famed auctioneer Billy Harris will take place after the dinner, including once-in-a-lifetime packages! Join us for an incredible evening as we fundraise in support of The Shaya Barnett Foundation. We would be so honored to have you join us for this incredible night!

A tax receipt for can be provided by the Shaya Barnett Foundation for all donations towards this event.

Shaya Barnett Foundation is committed to providing culinary education and resources to high school students. Through hands-on curriculum, students are able to gain the real-world skills necessary to gain experience and employment in the ever-growing culinary and hospitality industry. Ultimately, the goal is to prepare high school students to head off to secondary education or into the workforce as hospitality professionals with the proper credentials. New Orleans is known all over the world for great food, lodging, and hospitality. Through partnerships with programs like The New Orleans Career Center, The Shaya Barnett Foundation can help to prepare the community to be ready to meet the growing demands of locals and visitors, and really make a lasting impact in the life of a student.

About the Chefs:

Nancy Silverton is co-owner of Osteria Mozza, Pizzeria Mozza, and chi SPACCA in Los Angeles. Silverton also founded world-renowned La Brea Bakery as well as Campanile restaurant, an institution that Angelenos cherished for decades. A lifelong Angeleno, Nancy is one of the most respected and beloved chefs in America. In 2014, she received the highest honor given by the James Beard Foundation, the award for “Outstanding Chef.” That year, she was listed as one of the Most Innovative Women in Food and Drink by both Fortune and Food & Wine Magazines. In 2017, Nancy was profiled in an episode of Netflix’s award-winning docu-series Chef’s Table.

Born in Israel and raised on cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, chef Alon Shaya calls New Orleans his home. In 2017, Alon and his wife Emily formed Pomegranate Hospitality to foster opportunities for colleagues, partners, and friends in a comfortable and professional environment where cultural differences are celebrated. Alon has been nominated for five James Beard Awards. He has been named "Best Chef, South" while at Domenica in 2015, and his previous restaurant, Shaya, won "Best New Restaurant" in 2016. He was named one of the "50 People Who Are Changing the South" by Southern Living magazine in 2015, and one of the "50 Most Influential Jews in America" by The Forward. In 2016, Alon joined forces with Donna Barnett, his high school home economics teacher, to start the Shaya Barnett Foundation, committed to providing culinary education and resources to high school students. In March 2018, Alon published his debut cookbook, "Shaya: An Odyssey of Food, My Journey Back to Israel" (Knopf). In early 2018, chef Shaya & Pomegranate Hospitality announced the opening of two new restaurants: Saba in New Orleans and Safta in Denver. Saba opened it’s doors in May 2018 in Uptown New Orleans. Safta opened in the River North neighborhood of Denver in August 2018.
