Event description

Description

Join the Foundation of Hearing and Speech Rehabilitation for an evening of Merit and Music featuring renowned Blues artist and Cochlear Implant user Richard Reed along with the students from Merit’s Alice S. Pfaelzer Tuition-Free Conservatory for a fascinating night of music and sound.

100% of the proceeds from this event will support the Music to My Ears Scholarship Fund celebrating FHSR’s 60th Anniversary & the joy of music for children with hearing loss.

Before losing his hearing to antibiotics, renowned Blues musician and Cochlear Implant user, Richard Reed played piano and Hammond organ with Junior Walker & the All Stars, Otis Rush, Roomful of Blues and many other R&B, Blues and Rock & Roll bands. Due to late onset deafness, Mr. Reed was unable to appreciate music for close to ten years until he underwent cochlear implant surgery in 2002.
