Gather on Drakes beach for a guided tour of the cosmos with tips for identifying stars, nebulae, and constellations. The class leader will have a 4” telescope set up, but feel free to bring your own telescope if you have one. If it is cloudy, we will turn our gaze seaward and our ears outward to focus on bioluminescence of tiny water-borne sparklers and the night-time sounds of wildlife, including possibly owls, coyotes, and whatever else we might discover. Binoculars would be useful, but not required. Also bring a flashlight, a snack and beverage of your choice, and layers to protect from breezes and falling stars. If we look at bioluminescence, you may want to roll up your pants or wear shorts as we wade into a few inches of surf.
