Event description

Description

An Evening in Damascus returns on its fourth year to take you on an elegant trip down the Silk Road to the heart of Damascus.

Be ready to instantly walk into the alleyways of old Damasus; taste the Syrian food, immerse yourself in the music, enjoy the bellydancing and meet some of our local drag queens while also supporting a great cause.

Over the past four years, this event has raised $60K to fund the safe passage of Syrian queer refugees to come to Canada; and this year you get to meet our newly arriving Canadian sibilings! Your support has enabled the arrival of those folks; and it's time for you to shake hands with them!

As always, all the funds raised in this event will go to support one of Rainbow Refugee's Circles of Hope: This organization works tirelessly on helping LGBTQ-identified refugees.

The event is hosted at The Roundhouse Centre, adding a beautiful backdrop to what is sure to be one of the best and most glamourous Pride events this year.

Again, we partner with Tayybeh: A Celebration of Syrian Cuisine. The local Vancouverite group of Syrian refugee women coming together to cook amazing authentic Syrian appetizers for you and your guests.

For entertainment, Khadiejah, a Middle Eastern belly dancer, will roam the room and dance to some beautiful Arabic songs.

Last year, our rosé and white wines were a hit among folks, so bring cash for the bar offering it.

Proud to announce that CiTR Radio and Discorder Magazine are our Media Sponsors! We're proud to be working with a local, progressive and amazing media partner!

Come and grab a glass of wine, listen to some awesome tunes and enjoy the company of others celebrating Pride, and gathering for a good cause.

Early Bird Tickets are sold for $40 online until May 31st. Full priced tickets are $50 online
, and $60 on the door.

You can't make it but you want to support our cause? Please buy a community ticket at $40, and we will give the ticket for free to a person who belongs to the Queer and Trans Refugee community to attend in your place and enjoy our event.

We wish to acknowledge the ancestral, traditional and unceded Aboriginal territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, and in particular, the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations on whose territory we work, live and play.
