An Evangelical-Mormon Conversation
Thu, June 8, 2017, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM MDT
Have you ever felt "stuck" in your relationship with an evangelical or Mormon friend, neighbor, or co-worker? Do you want to talk about the things which are most important to you—your faith—but feel that you might be risking your friendship? This is an opportunity to listen in as two friends discuss their convictions with honesty and respect.
Our guest speakers are Dr. Brad Wilcox and Dr. Steven Crane.
Brad was mainly raised in Provo, Utah but he did spend some of his early years in Ethiopia. He earned his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in 1985 and has a Ph.D. from the University of Wyoming. From 2003 to 2006 he was president of the Santiago Chile East Mission. He is currently professor of religion at Brigham Young University. He has authored a number of books including The Continuous Atonement and Changed Through His Grace. Brad and his wife Debi are the parents of four children. His very popular address, “His Grace Is Sufficient” may be found at www.tinyurl.com/sufficientgrace.
Steve graduated from Puget Sound Christian College, earned the Master of Divinity in Theology from Lincoln Christian Seminary, and earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2007. Steve planted Eagle Christian Church in 1995. ECC is now one of the largest congregations in the Boise area. In addition to his ministry at ECC, Steve teaches part time at Boise Bible College. Steve and Sally were married in 1987 and have four children. Steve’s presentation “Understanding Mormonism” can be viewed at www.tinyurl.com/understandingLDS.
Brad and Steve "have agreed that our purpose is to promote healthy dialogue and discussion between Evangelicals and Mormons and to bring clarity to the issues—in an attempt to learn what we each actually believe. We are not interested in arguing or debating, but having a genuine, loving conversation about the unique aspects of our respective faiths.” —Steve Crane
