Spend an afternoon at the movies with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn.
In time for Only God Forgives, Refn's new collaboration with Drive star Ryan Gosling, we're showing two films programmed by the talented young filmmaker, one that he directed, and one that he really loves.
The afternoon kicks off with Valhalla Rising, Refn's 2009 Terrence-Malick-meets-Garth-Ennis viking drama. Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen plays a one-eyed viking that drags a weirdly introspective little boy with him on a fog-enshrouded trip to parts unknown.
Valhalla Rising will be followed by an in-person Q-&-A with Refn, and Village Voice film critic Simon Abrams.
Then, Refn will introduce the second feature, The Telephone Book, writer/director Nelson Lyon's indelible, X-rated 1971 arthouse porn comedy which follows Sarah Kennedy's quest to locate the obscene caller whose dirty words left her wanting more.
