About this event

Prudence Stoddard lives in the 18th century and has been hired by the Reverend Jacob as his housekeeper at Sigginstown Castle. Prudence will be your hostess for “An 18th Century Tea Journey” in the Big House.

This experience is big on history, fun, participation, and a little bit of period-appropriate tea. It tells the story of how tea arrived in Ireland, Britain and the Colonies and evolved into the popular beverage today. Ireland drinks more tea per capita than any other country, and you will learn how this came to be!

Prudence is stuck mostly in the 18th century, in character and costume, but welcomes guests for tea from the 21st century to Sigginstown Castle when the Reverend Jacob is away. Tea is served as it would have been in the 18th century, with a tea ceremony and tea-leaf reading activities.

The tea journey is from 11:30 am - 1 pm, and allows time to join an optional tour of the castle at 1:30 pm. (See Tour event for times and prices) Please note that the journey requires a minimum of 6 people to occur. So invite all friends and relations to ensure your event will happen!
