About this event

Zoom Presentation: Friday, December 2, 8:30am – 4:00pm. Participants will attend one field trip in Sonoma County on either Saturday, December 3, or Sunday, December 4, 2022. (See schedule below.) Registration opens Thursday, September 1, at 9:00am.

This workshop is designed to provide an overview of the life history, ecology and conservation of frogs, toads, and salamanders that occur in the San Francisco Bay Area. Professional biologists and resource managers will receive practical knowledge of our local amphibians.

For each of the 16 species listed below specific information will be provided including identification features, range and distribution, habitat requirements, and behavior. Both common and rare species will be discussed.

American Bullfrog, Arboreal salamander, Black salamander, California giant salamander, California newt, California red-legged frog, California slender salamander, California tiger salamander, Foothill yellow-legged frog, Northwestern salamander, Pacific chorus frog, Red-bellied newt, Rough-skinned newt, Western spadefoot, Western toad, Yellow-eyed salamander

Instructors for this workshop will be Dave Cook and Jeff Alvarez. Both are experts on amphibian ecology and conservation, and conduct herpetological research in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Please note, the Zoom presentation will not be recorded. Participants must plan on attending the Zoom presentation live and have a reliable internet connection. There will be plenty of time built into the agenda for questions and answers.

The presentation ​group will be split into four field trips. The field trips are identical. Each field trip has a max of 20 participants. When registration opens, field trips can be selected by date and time.

Refund Policy: Cancellations received more than 30 days in advance of the event date will receive a refund minus a $50.00 processing fee. No refunds will be granted within 30 days of the workshop regardless of personal or professional emergency. Tickets are transferrable within your agency, if needed.
