Event description

Description

Prepare for Día de los Muertos by PAINTING YOUR OWN piece of calavera-themed art! Calaveras, or sugar skulls, enjoy a unique place in Mexican Día de los Muertos traditions – existing both as a part of somber ritual and serving as a playful sweet treat.

Oak Park artist PATRIS has partnered with Día de los Muertos Oak Park to host this event, the second in our lecture and workshop series.

Attendees will be treated to a brief introduction to the calavera, its cultural significance, and uses in observing Día de los Muertos by Día de los Muertos Oak Park Director Claudio Cisneros. Participants will then be guided by renowned artist Patris in completing their own painting featuring two calaveras, which will be theirs to take home at the end of the workshop.

Come out to CREATE your own piece of Día de los Muertos art!
No experience needed. Beverage and all supplies are included in the registration fee. Cost is $35; advance registration is required. Only 40 spots are available!
