New Canon Chamber Collective is excited to announce our upcoming season opener, “American Soul,” conducted by Maestro Marlon Daniel, featuring internationally acclaimed opera vocalists Angela Brown, soprano, and Stephen Salters, baritone

Saturday, December 3rd at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Sunday, December 4th at the Sanctuary of the Arts in Coral Gables, Miami.

The repertoire for this concert presents three distinct voices in American classical music, which all embody the sound of American music, William Grant Still, Florence Price, and Ira Gershwin. They all lived very different lives. Although Still and Price did not experience the career and lauding that Gershwin received over the course of history because of their race, their contributions and importance to American music are no less significant. It is only in recent years that the classical music community is awakening to the significance of canonizing the compositions of these American composers who were eclipsed for most of this century. Gershwin, Price, and Still are composers who were masterful in capturing the heart and soul of America's sound.
