Event Details

Explore the history of American Jews from the earliest days in New Amsterdam to World War II and beyond. Using primary sources, we will discuss the challenges they faced, the institutions they built, and the accomodations they made to achieve the successful Jewish community of today and imagine the possibilities for the future.

Part of the Museum’s Scholar-in-Residence Program

8 sessions: Tuesdays, January 15, 22, 29; February 5, 12, 19, 26; and March 5

From 11 am to 12:30 pm

All ticket sales are final, no refunds are available. If you cannot attend an event, we will exchange your tickets for another event (subject to availability). If you are unable to attend any future events we will accept your tickets as a donation, which will be acknowledged with a donation receipt.

Museum at Eldridge Street

The mission of the Museum at Eldridge Street is to strengthen, support, protect and promote the 1887 landmark Eldridge Street Synagogue as a dynamic cultural and educational center that tells the story of Jewish immigrant life at the turn of the last century, explores architecture and historic preservation, inspires reflection and cultural continuity, and fosters inter-group exchange.
