Event description

Description

Culturally responsive education requires not only skills in connecting with students, but also broader curricular and cultural knowledge. Dr. Jimmy Patino, Assistant Professor of Chicano and Latino Studies at the University of Minnesota, will develop educators' core knowledge of Chicano/a and Latino/a history, culture and politics. Participants will also grow in their culturally responsive pedagogy and cultural understanding of Latino/a students. Each session will feature historical and cultural study along with discussion of how to integrate the new material into teachers’ current lessons. Teachers may register for one class or the entire course. Completing the entire course will provide curriculum for a semester-long high school course.
