About this event

The Embassy of the Czech Republic presents America through the Eyes of Czech Foreign Correspondents on March 22, 2022, at 6 pm. Special guests include Czech TV correspondent David Mirejovksy and Czech Radio correspondent Jan Kaliba. Both will give their perspective on covering key issues in the United States. Some questions that will be addressed include: What are some of their reflections concerning their US experience and what surprised them? What is it like to convey the US experience to a Czech Audience? Join us for an evening with the Czech press in the US.

FEATURED JOURNALISTS:

David Mirejovsky has been a Czech correspondent for Czech Television’s Foreign Desk covering the United States since 2018. Since 2002, he has also been editor of foreign reporting for the main evening news “Události” and editor/writer for the interactive show “Vedlejší efekty.” Previously, he worked as Czech TV’s permanent correspondent to the Russian Federation (2016-2017) and Slovakia (2012-2016). Additionally, he directed a number of short documentaries including Bulgaria on its way to the EU, Yemen: a forgotten crisis, and Obituary of Lech Kaczynski. He received his B.A. in journalism from Charles University (2002) and an M.A. in management and marketing from Tomas Bata University in Zlin, Czech Republic.

Jan Kaliba has served as a foreign correspondent to Czech Radio since 2017. Previously, he worked as a sports reporter and commentator for the same organization, covering the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver and Sochi, soccer World Cup in Brazil and other international sports events for ten years. Kaliba is author of several radio documentaries and an audio book. Additionally, he co-founded Football Club, a Czech long-read quarterly focused on soccer culture. He has won several awards for his work, including the "Novinářská křepelka" award for talented journalists and garnered twice first place in the Prix Bohemia Radio for his reports from the US. He graduated with an M.A. in media studies and journalism from Charles University (2009).
