“Everywhere immigrants have enriched and strengthened the fabric of American life.”
- John F. Kennedy, A Nation of Immigrants
To honor our 100th anniversary, ADL regions around the country are highlighting the work that ADL continues to be involved with. Called Civil Rights 2013: Leading Minds, Leading Issues, this series of 11 conferences will take place across the country throughout 2013. Each will focus on a single issue at the top of ADL’s—and the country’s—civil rights agenda: discrimination, religious freedom, immigration, Internet hate and cyberbullying, hate crimes, free expression, and the challenge of balancing civil liberties and security.
ADL New England would like to invite you to participate in our region’s program, America- A Nation of Immigrants: Where We Stand Today. Here, an expert panel will explore what comprehensive immigration reform would look like on the ground.
This panel currently includes:
Ali Noornai, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum in Washington D.C.
Reverend Cheng Imm Tan, Director of the Mayor’s Office of New Bostonians
Jose Vargas, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, filmmaker, and the founder of the Define American campaign
John Willshire-Carrera, Co-Managing Director of the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic at Greater Boston Legal Services and Clinical Instructor at Harvard Law School
If you are a young leader in your 20s or 30s, please join us for a dessert reception following the panel. More information here.
