Event description

Description

Join Zonta Club of Schenectady on Saturday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m. for a luncheon honoring the legacy of Amelia Earhart while exploring the obstacles and celebrating the achievements of women in aviation!

Event includes

  • catered lunch from Center Stage Deli
  • interactive discussion with aviation researcher Ric Gillespie of TIGHAR - a group dedicated to the recovery of Amelia's missing "Electra" air craft
  • special guest speaker Betsy Feiden, emergency responder and ground security for Jet Blue, and aspiring commercial pilot
  • basket raffles to benefit local service projects and scholarship programs of Zonta Club of Schenectady

Betsy Feiden will share with us her story of overcoming adversity to pursue a career as a commercial pilot - a field where women make up only 6% of the workforce, and Ric Gillespie will update us on recent developments in TIGHAR's research efforts, as well as answer audience questions about Amelia's famed flight across the Atlantic.

100% of proceeds from the event fund scholarships, local service projects, and programming grants to organizations benefiting women and children in Schenectady and Southern Saratoga counties.

We hope you will join us for this fun and informative annual event!
