Event description
Help save the Peruvian Amazon!

About this Event

We are 14 high school students who want to help save the Peruvian Amazon through science, collaboration, advocacy, and adventure!

In order to get to the Amazon, we need to raise $50k!

We have spent the last few months contacting sponsors, writing grants, participating in community events, executing our own individual projects to raise money and now we're asking foryour help! With your support, we could actually go to Peru to learn first-hand what we've been studying in class and have the adventure of a lifetime!

Ambitious: yes. Impossible: NO!

We invite you to join us for a night of refreshments and entertainment, a silent auction, raffles, art show and more to help us raise funds to support our environmental advocacy and the trip of a lifetime!

About us:

We are Dr. Foldi's 2019-2020 Tropical Ecology class. We create weekly workshops where we present and discuss ecological problems in Latin America.  We develop hypothetical solutions and projects to implement in the Amazon. The entire class is one giant project. Ultimately, we want to raise enough money to carry out the field projects we have designed and communicate our findings with local indigenous leaders and scientists in the Amazon.

We go to Valley International Prep High School. It is a small, but fast-growing charter school in the Los Angeles suburb of Chatsworth, CA. Our school’s mission is to prepare us for college through collaborative projects and inquiry-based instruction in a free-thinking environment. We take ownership of our learning.
