About this Event

Am I Alone?” - A Look at the effects of loneliness, isolation and abandonment on LGBTQ+ POC mental health

A discussion on how LGBTQ+ peoples of color mental health are affected by distance, through absence of resources, through inability to access services/resources, feelings of isolation, loneliness and abandonment (especially for older LGBTQ+ peoples of color), and identifying supports for these communities, including looking at continued shame, stigma and discrimination in senior housing/care facilities; for a person’s sexual orientation and gender identity/expression from family; looking at trauma - intergenerational and contemporaneous - impact a person’s life, choices and behavior, which leads to their marginalization.
