Join comedian Alvin Irby and his hilarious friends for a night of laughter as he records his second comedy album at NYC's Legendary Gotham Comedy Club. All proceeds from ticket sells for this event will be donated to Barbershop Books, winner of the National Book Foundation’s 2017 Innovations in Reading Prize. Featuring comedians from Comedy Central, The Tonight Show, & BET: Jon Laster, Joyelle Johnson, Rob Haze, Tamer Kattan.

Alvin Irby is a former kindergarten teacher turned award-winning educator, comedian, and social entrepreneur. He is a Little Rock native who honed his smart brand of comedy on NYC stages over the past eight years. In 2015, Irby was one of nine StandUp NBC national finalists selected by NBC to perform at the Hollywood Improv in Los Angeles, CA. Irby’s 2012 debut comedy album, They Know Too Much, displays his clever social commentary and hilarious observations, which draw on his eclectic life. He holds an MS in Education from Bank Street Graduate School of Education, an MPA from the Wagner School of Public Service at New York University, and a BA from Grinnell College.

Irby recently published a new children's book entitled Gross Greg, a hilarious story that combines his love for humor and early literacy. In addition to performing stand up, Irby is founder of Barbershop Books, a nonprofit literacy program that creates child-friendly reading spaces in barbershops across America.
