About this Event

Doors 6PM, Todd Herzog 7PM, Good Morning Bedlam 8PM, Althea Grace 9:15PM

ALTHEA GRACE Althea’s music can best be described as in-your-face indie blues with heavy doses of jazz, funk, and rock featuring her powerful, soulful voice and guitar skills to match. Althea has been playing top festivals and venues in Chicago, The Midwest, and beyond for the last five years, including opening for Arc Angel’s own Doyle Bramhall II on tour late last year. In 2012, Althea won the McHenry County junior talent contest and has been featured numerous times in regional newspapers, radio, and TV outlets. Althea has opened for American Idol finalist Bucky Covington and on many occasions with the multi-Grammy-winning band Los Lobos. When she’s not rocking her solo career, she’s in the studio writing for artists like Doyle Bramhall; most recent writing credit being Doyle’s song “Everything You Need” featuring Eric Clapton.

GOOD MORNING BEDLAM Good Morning Bedlam: Good Morning Bedlam has become an innovative force in the midwest folk scene and beyond. Their shows are known for their contagious energy, with members careening about the stage, jumping and dancing with a wild playfulness. With tight soaring three part harmonies, and thumping kick-drum, they captivate their audience night after night with no intention of slowing down. Every song is a unique twist on what is generally dubbed as folk music.”We want to surprise our audience from song to song. Rather than creating our music to fit a genre, we allow it to be an outpouring of our own stories and unique sound,” says Isaak, frontman of GMB. Just when you think you have Good Morning Bedlam pegged, they take you in another direction. You will be treated to a haunting waltz, whistling, jazz scatting, and the euphoria of the violin melodies. When it comes to their lyrical storytelling, Isaak says, “We’re desperate to connect to people through the common human experiences that we write about and the exuberance of our live show. People have a lot of choices of how they’ll kick-back, so we intend to deliver a show where they can be free--to share in whatever they need to--joy, grief, anger, gratefulness, or bedlam!”

Early 2016, Good Morning Bedlam signed with Minneapolis record label Last Triumph and released their first full-length album, Prodigal. After showcasing their music at SXSW two years in a row, this four piece just released their sophomore album in July of 2018 while they continue to tour full-time.

TODD HERZOG Todd Herzog is an artist who takes the raw material of life experiences and creates soulful, spiritual, acoustic pop music that opens the hearts of his listeners and leaves them feeling inspired - as if the songs were written only for them. His voice comes from the center of his being, combining the grit and power of Bono with the clear falsetto of Jason Mraz and Five for Fighting.

After the loss of a girlfriend to Leukemia at the age of 28, Todd turned to music as a vehicle for healing himself and those around him. Through this process, he realized that despite the difficult external reality, there was still joy and love and things to look forward to in life. Some of the most rewarding feedback he has received on his work has come from people who have used his music to get to the other side of a dark place.

“I play music because it’s the thing that makes me feel whole. When I am fully immersed in my music, it is like a meditation and I am able to disappear into the sound. When I am in that space, it feels like I am praying and singing at the same time. It is then that I know I am doing what I am supposed to be doing with my life.”

Todd’s music is intended to transform his audience, to allow them to observe their own lives and to open them up to a sense of gratitude and appreciation. It is music that allows us to feel connected to one another and to something larger than ourselves.

His latest recording, Something to Believe In, is a very personal introspective project that chronicles his return to a sense of his authentic self and to his singer/songwriter roots. His plan is to continue to use his gifts to uplift and to heal his listeners for as long as he is able.
