Alternative Stone Setting: Bezels and Beyond 8/5 & 8/6

Instructor: Jennifer Stenhouse

Date: August 5th and 6th Time: 11am-5pm Price: $220 + supplies

Come get the real deal on stone setting techniques with metal maven, Jennifer Stenhouse. Jennifer teaches metalsmithing at a variety of venues and has been in the jewelry industry for 30 years. This class will begin with great tips and tricks for cabochons, and go on to explore alternatives for faceted, free form stone, and found object. Although the basic bezel is a great place to start, many other settings often work better for a particular stone or better highlight its unique qualities. Demonstrations will include bezel tips and tricks, pedestal, basket, post, turtle, tube, flush, and cold connection setting. Students are encouraged to produce both samples and finished elements for jewelry applications.

Supplies like copper and brass to practice will are provided, along with tools for use during class. But, participants are encouraged to bring Sterling silver wire and sheet to create finished projects.

Level/Prerequisite: Beginning Jewelry/Metals and ability to solder independently.
