This introductory class will teach found poetry and altered book techniques that will allow you to bring new life to old books, turning cast-off pages into a reliquary of personally meaningful content.
Co-facilitated with wire artist, Debbi Murray, we will use several techniques that help turn trash into treasure.
By the end of the workshop, you will understand how to:
- Choose and prep books to alter
- Find poetry from within
- Gain control over your inner critic
- Give yourself permission to play, explore, and discover
- Use collage, paint, wire, and found objects to make art!
An assortment of scrap papers and collage materials will be available, but to make it meaningful, we ask participants to bring your own personal stash of small objects that hold meaning for you along with paper ephemera, artifacts, and images to play with. A supplies list will be provided as well.
