Event description

Description

For 111 years, the oldest Greek-lettered organization for African-American women, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, has been supreme in “Service to All Mankind." In honor and celebration of this milestone, Tau Iota Omega Chapter's theme for 2019 is “We Are Because They Were.…111 Years Of Bonded Sisterhood And Supreme Service.” Alpha Kappa Alpha’s rich legacy remains preeminent and progressive. Our International Program continues to enhance the social, economic and educational well being of local and international communities.

Community Service Project - Target 1: HBCU for Life

Alpha Kappa Alpha promotes historically black colleges and universities and encourages students to attend HBCU's as a sustainabilty measure. HBCU funding is one of the primary obstacles that threaten long-term growth and survival of HBCU's.

On February 23rd, each guest will have an opportunity to make an impact by donating a minimum of $11 in support of their favorite HBCU! Your donation will help to financially suppport HBCU's and help students remain in school, complete their course of study and receive their college degrees. Donations can be made by cash or check during the event. Please note your favorite HBCU on the memo line. Let's see which HBCU shows the most love!
