On behalf of the LGBT Center Satellite Office on HSC, join the Ally Campaign as we launch a series of Safe Zone Trainings.
Through this new project, we aim to create a more welcoming environment for the LGBTQ community on the Health Sciences campus. We will be holding several ally trainings in the coming semester that we hope you will be able to attend. Our vision is that through these trainings, participants will be able to better educate themselves and their peers on becoming competent healthcare providers.
The Safe Zone Training Program of the LGBT Center provides education on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community that contributes to a safe and welcoming experience for all members of the university community. The Safe Zone training for HSC additionally helps participants understand LGBT-specific health issues relevant to research, academic medicine and practice.
Implemented nationwide, thousands have attended Safe Zone workshops in efforts to promote diversity and designate themselves as advocates to LGBTQ students, faculty, and staff. As such this invite offers a similar opportunity for YOU to attend a Safe Zone workshop here at the University of Louisville open to all faculty and staff on the HSC Campus.
During this workshop you will gain knowledge around terminology, LGBTQ health concerns, and tips on how to be an effective “ally.” In addition you will hear “firsthand” from a panel of LGBTQ identified members about their experiences and perspectives. This panel will offer the opportunity for discussion, questions and answers, and a debrief toward action steps that you can take immediately.
