Description

The National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC), National League of Cities Reengagement Network, The Corps Network, the Institute for Educational Leadership, and local partner organizations will be hosting a joint Opportunity Youth Mid-Year Forum. The primary objectives are to:

  • Provide leading-edge professional development and program quality development for leaders and front-line staff
  • Promote coordination among different networks and groups across the youth employment and education field
  • Discuss and inform relevant state and federal policy agenda(s)
  • Strengthen supports and services for key populations such as undocumented youth, youth with disabilities, and justice system-involved youth.


WHY ATTEND?

Connections: The Mid-year forum will bring together 100+ participants from throughout the country to share ideas and insights. Come network with directors, practitioners, counselors, policy makers and researchers looking to advance the field.

Programming: This convening will heavily emphasize discussion and peer learning, which will take place in the form of sessions, workshops and plenaries on both days. Want an opportunity to expand your leadership and professional skills? Register today!

Underserved Populations: Sessions will focus on underserved populations such as gang-involved youth, youth with disabilities and undocumented youth. Do you have thoughts? Want to learn more about collaborating and serving these populations? Then register today!



REGISTRATION

Please register before March 29th to take advantage of our Early Bird rate of $150. After March 29th the rate will be $200. There are a number of nearby hotel options around the area including the Oakland Marriot City Center, Courtyard Oakland Downtown, etc.


SESSION PROPOSALS

This convening will heavily emphasize discussion and peer learning, which will take place in the form of sessions throughout both days. If you would like to propose a session, please complete the Google Form here by February 28th, 2019. We will contact individual proposers by March 14th to confirm sessions.Youth leaders are especially encouraged to propose sessions! Please note the registration fees are $150 standard for session leaders and are not waived.



Y-TAC LEARNING LAB

IDENTIFYING AND REENGAGING OUT-OF-SCHOOL YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES: INCREASING EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION OUTCOMES

The federal Youth Technical Assistance Center (Y-TAC) is offering a day-long "learning lab" on Friday, May 31st, as part of the All Youth Working Forum. Focusing on identifying and reengaging and opportunity youth with disabilities, this is an opportunity for practitioners across disciplines to share experiential knowledge and innovative practices. There will be a strong youth presence throughout the day, which will be structured in a learning lab format that emphasizes learning, sharing, and planning. The intent of this learning lab is for participants to develop an action plan to implement change in their home communities. NYEC MEMBER DUES

To join NYEC or renew your NYEC membership for 2019, please contact rashaun.bennett@nyec.org and indicate your intent to join or renew where prompted on the registration form. We will follow up separately to set up an introduction call and collect your dues payment.
