Event description

Description

Myth-buster: Lots of people - regardless of gender, anatomy, or hormones - can make milk for their babies! That's right, nursing is not just for ciswomen, and you don't have to birth a baby to do it. Nursing has so much to offer babies in terms of connection, nutrition and immune protection. Come and learn all about what makes human milk so incredible, and what's involved with making sure your baby gets some. We'll talk about induced lactation, co-nursing (when more than one parent wants to nurse), and nursing after top surgery, as well as covering lactation basics. Come with lots of questions!

Digital Workshop: This workshop will be held in the Zoom online meeting platform (https://zoom.us). You will receive a connection link for the session 48 hours before the workshop date.

About Our Presenter

Our presenter Tanya Wills is a graduate of the midwifery program at Yale School of Nursing, where she received her Master of Science in Nursing and also earned her R.N. (Registered Nurse). Tanya practices as a home birth midwife and also provides gyn care, primary care, and lactation consultations through Manhattan Birth Midwifery.

Tanya obtained her Certified Lactation Counselor credential in 2010 through Healthy Children's Center for Breastfeeding enabling her to provide evidence-based lactation support and received additional training while at Yale with Julie Bouchet-Horwitz at Hudson Valley Breastfeeding as an IBCLC candidate.

With a background in theatre, Tanya brings warmth and a sense of humor to her classes and clients. Now a mother of two, Tanya balances her time working with pregnant folks and their partners with her own midwifery and lactation work, teaching, and learning from people who are in the process of giving birth. "I feel so privileged to be doing this important work."
