Introductory-Intermediate ‘Crash-Condense’ Course for grasping Gender Dysphoria and providing Gender Affirming Interventions

About this Event

Collaborative partnership with Tree of Hope and Ryan Howles Transforming the Clinician brings you:

This workshop will prepare participants to be: (1) gain confidence in delivering gender-affirming / gender-knowledgeable, (2) identify and acknowledge tricky symptomatic & complex issues co-morbid toward gender dysphoria / TGNCNB issues, (3) garner the ability in assessing, evaluating, and delivering Gender-Affirming Interventions, and (4) develop mastery toward self-reliance in treating transitional distress along preventing Gatekeeping practices.

Participants will take away: Toolkit of clear interventions to support the TGNCNBI community, understanding how to clinically and advocate support, Packet of Gender Affirming Interventions, Case Study examples, and Letter templates.

Speaker Info: Ryan Howles (they/them) is a QTNB Therapist pursuing an NYS LMHC, MA LPC, and CTHP. They have been an Clinical Consultant for providers for the past 4-years by professionally speaking on various topics: Trauma-informed practices for sexual assault survivors who identify as TGNCNB, Trauma-informed care for those on the front lines, Gender Spectrum & beyond, and Young adults combating ‘adult’ diseases. They are interested in identity development, tiered gender minority stress, healthcare engagement practices for disenfranchised/marginalized populations and providers identifying as TGNC while working with patients in the community. Ryan appreciates working with the TGNC populations for the past 3 years in associated healthcare clinics and clinical consulting engagements. For the past 9 years, Ryan has been an LGBT health educator and consultant.

Partnership info: Tree of Hope Counseling, LCSW, PLLC, is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0322.

Teaching Methods: Presenter will utilize powerpoint slides, worksheets, Case study examples, audience participation/ group discussion, and pre-/ post- quiz. Resources will be given in the form of articles, Sample Letters, Referral Network Forest, and handouts. There will be time allotted for questions.
