A song cycle for 7-piece ensemble.
About this event
Join in aching jubilee of all that is vanity with the premier of a new collection of songs by composer & Hunterdon County native Landon Peer. The music, written for a 7-piece ensemble of strings, woodwinds, electric guitar, synthesizers, percussion & voice, crosses classical, folk and electronic styles in tones both familiar and novel. The lyrics, written collaboratively with Rebecca Haygood, a close friend of the composer's, unfold as a struggle between comfort and disbelief as the forces of loss, hope, and the supernatural are investigated. We'll gather to hear it in the beautiful historic sanctuary of the High Bridge Reformed Church, at 23 Church St. High Bridge, NJ.

Artist notes:
"The subjects of this work are deeply personal to me. With its lyrical fragments of Hebrew & Christian scriptures and melodies reminiscent of Gregorian chant, this work will probably prompt reflection on big questions. However despite its heavy themes, it is also meant to inspire some lightness! This is the debut event for this music, which is scheduled to be recorded at Outlier Inn Studio in late October of this year. It is an ambitious, large scale project, and I am very excited for my community to hear what I have been working on so far in 2022" - Landon
See you then & there!
