About this Event
Film begins at 6:15pm CT / Panel begins at 8:00PM CT
Election day has come and gone, but now what do we do as a national democracy? Our work is not complete and we need to find ways to keep our country engaged in the continual pursuit of encouraging people to exercise their right to vote. Join us for a screening and discussion of the new documentary All In: The Fight for Democracy, to learn about voter suppression of people of color in Wisconsin and the broader US & the importance of voting; we are voting for ourselves and for our future leaders - our youth!
During the anticipation of the 2020 presidential election, All In: The Fight for Democracy examines the often overlooked yet insidious issue of voter suppression in the United States. The film interweaves personal experiences with current activism and historical insight to expose a problem that has corrupted our democracy from the very beginning. With the perspective and expertise of Stacey Abrams, the former Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives, the documentary offers an insider’s look into laws and barriers to voting that most people don’t even know are threats to their basic rights as citizens of the United States.
ALL IN explores fundamental questions: Who gets to participate in our democracy, and who is pushed aside? How can we all fight back? Voting is the cog that makes the machinery of democracy work — and if the machinery breaks for some, it will eventually break for all.
