k9 connection | A project of The People Concern

k9 connection, a non-profit experience-based project of The People Concern, OPCC and Lamp Community united, has helped more than 1,057 youth and placed 648 shelter dogs in permanent homes since its founding in 2005. It is run by a dedicated, small professional staff and trained volunteers who work to help counselor-referred teens learn responsibility, empathy, teamwork and coping skills using the therapeutic modality of training homeless shelter dogs.

k9 connection offers its programs free of charge and relies solely on the generosity of individual, company and foundation donations.

As we search for other ways in which k9 connection can increase the number of people and dogs it benefits, as well as broaden the scope of its services, in May 2018, we launched Pets' Landing, a series of free veterinary pet clinics on Los Angeles' Westside and in its Downtown area. With community support, these clinics allow our parent organization, The People Concern, to provide its own homeless participants, as well as others still struggling with homelessness, with free care for their pets. This service helps to keep both humans and pets healthy, happy and safe.

All proceeds from this event will go directly to help k9 connection continue to care for the pets of our clients challenged by homelessness, living in transitional housing or on the streets.

Our k9 Intern Program is growing; here Adriana shares her experience: Watch our video!
