All-Day Riak Training in Chicago - Friday, Dec. 7 at the 37signals Offices
Basho is offering an all-day, free Riak training on December 7th at the 37signals offices in Chicago. Full details are below. This is being offered at no charge to Chicago's tech community, and we're looking forward to meeting a lot of area developers and engineers who are interested in running Riak and other distributed systems in production.
Riak is an open-source, distributed database inspired by Amazon's Dynamo. This class aims to provide a technical introduction to Riak's architecture and API, explore concepts surrounding data modeling for a key/value datastore and discover some of Riak's more advanced features such as Riak Search and multi data-center replication. We'll have a crew of Riak experts on hand to
- answer your questions
- help you install and perform basic functions
- understand what Riak means for your ops and dev teams
At the end of this workshop, you will have gained a working knowledge of Riak, its advanced features and be prepared to successfully implement Riak in production.
This is an general workshop, so no prior experience with Riak is necessary; however, student's should be familiar with UNIX style operating systems, basic networking principles and at least one programming language. It is encouraged, but not necessary, if you have prior experience with various SQL or NoSQL databases.
Required class materials / software
Bring laptops, Mac OS X or Linux operating systems only. During the class we will walk you through installing Riak, although we encourage you to download and install Riak prior to attending the workshop. Self contained binary packages can be found on the Basho site.
