All-American Fayetteville Challenge
Sat, March 25, 2017, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM EDT
The USO of NC Fort Bragg in partnership with the Downtown Alliance presents the All-American Fayetteville Challenge, a fundraising event that will be held from 10am-1 pm, on Saturday, March 25, 2017.
The All-American Fayetteville Challenge will bring at least 100 participants to downtown Fayetteville for a morning of fun and exploration of many landmarks and local businesses. Teams will arrive and check in at the Festival Park rally point and head toward their challenge locations with swag bags filled with items from downtown businesses and sponsors. The bags will also be used to collect items throughout the challenge.
Registration for this event requires two-person teams with a maximum of 50-60 teams. Participants should form a team, assign a team name, be creative, and come dressed to win a Team Theme prize. For reasons beyond our control, no pets are permitted to join the downtown adventure.
Using a smart phone, a web page will lead teams through downtown Fayetteville and each team member will be required to complete a challenge at a specific location in order to earn points for the finish. In addition to landmark visits, teams will collect challenge tokens and extra points from downtown businesses, and by visiting additional points of interest along the way. Teams will be given a window of time to complete the challenge, and participants are encouraged to walk the route.
Fayetteville Challenge teams will use social media to post, tag, and share their progress, challenges and photos of places of interest.
The All-American Fayetteville Challenge will wrap up at the Transportation and Local History Museum for an awards ceremony and a light lunch.
REGISTER BY MARCH 15 and you will be guaranteed a t-shirt! After March 15, we cannot guarantee sizes or shirts. First come, first served on the registration side!
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
One of the team participants must be at least 18 years of age. We welcome parent/child teams, but discourage any combination of youth teams under 18 years of age. Please note that everyone will sign and return an insurance waiver once all teams have registered. Parents: if you are bringing children, you will also have a waiver to sign on the day of the event.
Is the Fayetteville Challenge a Team Event?
Yes! You must pick a partner to enter the challenge and come up with a creative team name. Come dressed for the occasion as there will be Tacky Team Theme prize awarded.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Downtown Fayetteville has plenty of FREE parking from open lots to the covered parking deck located on Franklin Street. Here's a map: http://www.visitdowntownfayetteville.com/getting-here/parking-map/
What can I bring to the event?
The Fayetteville Challenge is smart phone web-based event, so please bring your smart phone, fully-charged, with space for photos! If you'd like to bring a snack or bottle of water, please do so. A light lunch will be provided at the conclusion of the event.
What should I leave at home?
Pets, scooters, bikes, four-wheelers, skateboards, Hoverboards, Heelies, roller blades, and anything that does not allow you to WALK the route.
What are you giving me?
You will be provided with a swag bag full of great stuff like an event t-shirt, coupons and other items from our sponsors. You must use this swag bag to participate in this event. We are also providing some water stations, lunch, prizes and a medallion to all who finish the All-American Fayetteville Challenge! Register by MARCH 15 and you are guaranteed a t-shirt. After March 15, we cannot guarantee sizes or shirts. First come, first served on the registration side!
How about if my whole family joins as a team?
Because this is our first event like this, we have to limit the event to two people per team! Please if at all possible arrive in teams of two. Strollers and younger family members are welcome, however, we are also limited to providing lunch for our registered participants.
Other bits of advice?
The event requires you to walk, not run the route. So, take the time to enjoy downtown Fayetteville and all it has to offer during the Challenge. Please thank everyone you might encounter at a local business, our sponsors, or USO NC volunteers who will all be giving their time to make this a fun morning for you! The web page will identify locations for restrooms, supporting businesses, and other key locations you need to complete the Challenge!
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Please email the USO of NC Fort Bragg: firstname.lastname@example.org.
What's the refund policy?
No refunds. This event will be held rain or shine.
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
If for some reason you cannot attend, please email us ASAP (email@example.com) and find someone to take your place on the two-person team! Don't strand your teammate!
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
You will need to let us know of any team participant changes ahead of time by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org. Everyone will have to read and sign an event insurance waiver of liability!
When will we hear back from the USO of NC?
The USO of NC will be in touch with more information and will need more details from you once your team has registered such as team name, theme, and we'll send other particulars like photo release information and an event insurance waiver.
