Purpose: All About Orthopedics is a review of basic concepts and cutting-edge advances in orthopedics through the dissemination of best practices, emerging innovation and quality improvement in care delivery. The program is for all healthcare professionals that care for patients with musculoskeletal issues.

Objectives: At the end of this program, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify performance measures and clinical practice guidelines that lead to a successful certification survey
  • Recognize the pathomechanics of tibial tendon dysfunction and discuss treatment options
  • Discuss appropriate medication management strategies to treat osteoporosis based on individual patient parameters
  • Identify indications and benefits of computer navigation and robotics in total joint replacement surgery
  • Outline factors that contribute to early discharge following total joint replacement surgery
  • Explain the importance of gait retraining for the treatment of injured runners
  • Compare and contrast hip fracture rehabilitation programs offered in hospitals, nursing homes, home health and ambulatory settings
  • Review the diagnosis and treatment options for carpel tunnel syndrome

The Iowa Board of Nursing and the California Board of Nursing will honor ANCC continuing education credits for face-to-face programs held outside Iowa and California, or for ANCC-approved online recorded courses taken in a self-study format.

Athletic Trainer
Creighton University Health Sciences Continuing Education (BOC AP #P942) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 6.5 Category A hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.

Physical Therapy (includes physical therapist assistant)
The All About Orthopedics: 2nd Annual Conference 2017 has been approved for 0.65 Continuing Education Units (corresponding to 6.5 contact hours) by the Continuing Education Committee of the Nebraska Chapter American Physical Therapy Association.

Occupational Therapy (includes occupational therapist assistant)
The Board of Occupational Therapy Practice does not pre-approve continuing education course offerings, but will accept a continuing education activity when they are planned and conducted for occupational therapists and the continuing education activity relates to the practice of Occupational Therapy. Each professional is responsible for their own certification.

The AAMA will accept a program for recertification if its subject matter is relevant to your profession.
