Event description

The first time I read this book, I cried before I could get to the end. I tried to read it again. Cried again. I felt like I was doing everything wrong. The number of words to write each day, the words to use and those not to use…the amount of time to get a book done.

For the record, I had already published a book, a New York Times Bestseller at that. And yet. Stephen made me feel like I was doing it all wrong and anything else I had done was a fluke. I would never publish a book again. Stephen said so.

I finally read it through, like one of his horror stories, with one hand over my eyes.

And then I read thoroughly, taking notes, trying not to take anything personally.

And then I got it. And I've read it every year since. And then, I started to yell it to the rafters—READ THIS BOOK. But it’s not an easy read. It’s slim and his style is extremely readable and friendly. But I wish I had someone to hold my hand while I was reading the scary parts.

That's me.

So, imagine I’m sitting next to you, preparing for Stephen King to jump out and scare you when he tells you the first draft of your book should be done in a week.* You can dive into my arms and shut your eyes. I’ll tell you when it’s safe to look.

What we will do is go through the parts of the book that work FOR ME. I expect you to actually read the book cover-to-cover. Take notes too.

But consider this your Cliff’s notes. Sure, you can go through the handout I'll send you and not read the book. But we know how that works out. Don’t we?

*he doesn’t say a week. Feels like it though.

Let’s Go.

***look for an email from me. it will take you to ZOOM which is where the online class will be held.
