Algebra I Teacher Support Network
D2D is piloting a Teacher Support Network (TSN) in Algebra I. This networks offers subject- and grade-specific support, helping teachers across districts learn with and from each other and providing a remote coach with deep expertise in the standards and strong instructional practices for Algebra I.
For just $300 per participant, teachers can join a cohort of peers teaching Algebra I across Tennessee and Florida to learn and grow together, beginning January 2017. The Algebra I TSN will focus on three main goals:
Increasing teacher understanding of reasoning with equations and inequalities
Deepening understanding of student learning progressions
Leading to richer instruction and more learning for students in these standards.
This TSN will meet for one hour per month during the school year on a video conference call. Agendas will be facilitated by a D2D content specialist and include significant opportunities for discussion. Facilitation will also include the use of Eureka Math materials. There will be common bridge-to-practice assignments, and a team discussion board will be available for teacher support and collaboration between meetings.
The cost of the Algebra I Teacher Support Network series is $300 per participant. Each district will receive an invoice after its teachers' registration is confirmed. The capacity is a maximum of 8 teachers and a minimum of 5 teachers.
The series consists of 5 one-hour sessions across the school year. Most sessions will take place the third Wednesday of the month from 4:30-5:30 Central Time. Remaining sessions will take place on February 15, *March 8 (early due to Spring Break), April 19, and May 17.
