Event description

Description

Join us for an afternoon of music and fun kicked-off by the Orff Ensemble from John Adams Elementary. The Orff Ensemble is a group of 21 students in 3rd grade and above, under the direction of Kyle Tilman. Students play keyboard percussion instruments, non-pitched rhythmic instruments, and other orchestral percussion. Orff has been at John Adams for over 20 years. Its history involves performances at the Kennedy Center, for Vice President Joe Biden, and with musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra.

Next, Washington's funniest and most magical entertainer, The Great Zucchini will join us! For over 20 years, The Great Zucchini has been entertaining young children as a magician and preschool teacher. His hands-on, interactive magic show, coupled with his gentle nature and wacky facial expressions, makes kids immediately feel comfortable and ready to laugh.

Lastly, the concert will close with a performance by Rocknoceros. As every family with youngsters in the Washington, DC area knows, Rocknoceros is three guys: Coach, Williebob, and Boogie Bennie. They have been making award-winning music together since 2005 and are celebrating their 10th year together with a brand new album.

All of the proceeds from this event will go to support programs in Alexandria that serve children. Visit the Alexandria Kiwanis Club webpage to learn how we support the kids of our city.
