Event description

Description

Alessandro Orsini, founding partner of Architensions, a Brooklyn based practice co-led with Nick Roseboro, will share a model of practice that refuses to separate architecture from urbanism proposing a paradigm antithetical to modern capitalism, giving back to architecture its autonomous form. Focusing on the design process of their latest projects in Australia and Denmark, Alessandro will give a view into their newly published book “Forma Urbana” and in particular their theory on “Fifth Dimensional Cities”, which is also the title of their upcoming exhibition at the Java Project Gallery in Brooklyn this fall.

Alessandro Orsini studied architecture in Rome at RomaTre School of Architecture with Alessandro Anselmi and Tommaso Giuralongo and in New York at the Graduate School of Planning and Preservation at Columbia University with Yehuda Safran. Before founding Architensions he worked with Steven Holl Architects as a project architect of the Sunslice House and in the team of many other projects. Alessandro currently teaches at New Jersey Institute of Technology School of Architecture.

Presented in partnershp with the AIADO Department at School of the Art Insitute of Chicago.
