Welcome to the Albury and Shere Circular Nordic Walk 4.5 mile (7km)
This pretty walk winds between the villages of Albury and Shere, starting on Albury Heath beside the cricket pitch and including a coffee stop at the friendly and popular Dabbling Duck café in Shere.
We begin on sandy tracks across Albury heath before descending to Shere along a wide grassy path lined with ancient sweet chestnut trees. It's one of the prettiest paths in the Surrey Hills, finishing at the Tillingbourne river which we follow into Shere and our coffee stop at the Dabbling Duck (not included in the price). This first section of our walk is about 2.5km and is flat/downhill.
After our break the route takes us out of Shere along gently undulating paths through the Silverwood and past the Catholic Apostolic Church (we will get a fabulous view of its striking circular window) to the Albury Old Saxon church which dates back to pre -1066. There will be time to enjoy this peaceful place before we head back to Albury Heath. This middle section of our walk is about 2.5km and is flat/gently undulating.
The final 2km section of our walk climbs back to Albury Heath, initially through woodland then picking up the sandy heathland tracks to our starting point. The Albury Heath café will be open for refreshments.
