NM2 was formed as a response to the ever-growing Make Movement around the world. After the success of our first ABQ Maker Faire in September 2012, we decided that to be able to take ABQ Maker Faire to the next level that we needed to establish a nonprofit organization to organize and produce the next ABQ Maker Faire and from there New Mexico New Makers was born and nicknamed NM2! NM2 be producing the ABQ Maker Faire as an annual 2-Day event in the Albuquerque area. We also reach out to support the growing New Mexico Make Community throughout the year. And Quelab is the 'offical' year round home for the ABQ Maker Faire drop in and see what we are up to!
The Albuquerqu Mini Maker Faire will be at the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum and Balloon Fiesta Park.
Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.
Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.
The original Maker Faire event was heldin San Mateo, CA and in 2012 celebrated its seventh annual show with some 800 makers and 110,000 people in attendance. World Maker Faire New York, the other flagshipevent, has grown in three years to 500+ makers and 55,000 attendees. Detroit, Kansas City, Newcastle (UK), and Tokyo are the home of “featured” Maker Faires (200+ makers), and community-driven, independently organized Mini Maker Faires are now being produced around the United States and the world—including right here in Albuquerque.
MAKE is the first magazine devoted entirely to Do-It-Yourself (DIY) technology projects.
