The AJW August 2-7, 2021 Jazz Camp features the AJW Faculty Jazz Ensemble in concert from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday August 6, 2021 at the Anchorage Lutheran Church. The concert will feature an eclectic mix of exciting original Jazz, Latin, and funk style songs by band members and composers John Damberg, Mark Manners, Rick Zelinsky.
Many of the songs will be world premiers not to be missed. The quintet features John Damberg-vibes & percussion, Rick Zelinsky-saxophone, Mark Manners-guitar, Bob Andrews-bass, and Eiden Pospisil-drum set, with special guest apearance by Dr Tamara McCoy on vocals.
This is a family friendly event for adults and kids age 12 and up. So spice up your summer with some vibrant orignal Jazz this August in the beautiful acoustics of the Anchorage Lutheran Church sanctuary. ***NOTE all concert attendees must be vaccinated for Covid 19 and show proof of their vaccination at the door.***

About the organizer
John Damberg is a master percussionist specializing in performing and composing music for the John Damberg Latin Jazz Quintet. His main instruments are the marimba, vibes, malletkat, steel drum, and Latin hand percussion. John's quintet performs a fun mix of original songs and fresh arrangements of Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, and Trinidadian composers. The group, formed in 1995, has performed at a wide variety of events for various Alaska Arts Councils including Valdez, Cordova, Seward, Homer, and Talkeetna. They have also been regular guest artists at the Girdwood Forest Fair, the Anchorage Salmon Daze Festival, the Alyeska Blueberry Festival, the UAA Jazz Week Festivals, and the PAS Alaska Day of Percussion Festivals. John also sets up concerts for the group on a regular basis at numerous locations in Anchorage including the Anchorage Lutheran and Trinity Presbyterian churches, the Wilda Marston Theater, the UAA Arts Building Recital Hall, the PAC, and at the Organic Oasis. The quintet plays regular benefit concerts for local charities including Bean's Cafe and The Food Bank of Alaska.
