About this event

Join us for this one day conference for organization, large and small!

This conference aims to help employers address mental health, substance use and recovery in the workplace by equipping them with the education and tools they need to create employee programs and informed policies to support a healthy workforce.

We will have a variety of break out sessions along with panelists who will discuss important topics including the following :

Speakers:

Dr. Stephen Taylor serves as the Medical Director of the Player Assistance/Anti-Drug Program of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the NBPA. He specializes in addiction psychiatry, and he has been in practice for 20+ years.

Allison Sharer is the Senior Trainer & Certified Prevention Consultant of Working Partners®, a training and consulting firm from Ohio specializing in helping workplaces minimize the risks associated with substance misuse.

Chris Campbell is the President of American Drug Testing, a drug and alcohol screening company that helps employers maintain a substance-free workplace. Chris holds a BS in Mining Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Univ. of West Georgia.

Mitchell Greggs is a Shareholder and member of the Labor and Employment and Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Groups at Maynard, Cooper and Gale. He also has an extensive background in Business and General Litigation. Super Lawyers has recognized Mitchell as a “Rising Star” in the areas of Business Litigation and Employment & Labor Law. Mitchell received his J.D. cum laude from Washington & Lee University. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama.

Crystal Holcomb is the Chief Operating Officer of Expeditated Transportation Agency, Inc. (ETA), and specializes in making ETA a recovery supportive workplace.

Ian Henyon is the Executive Director of the Birmingham Recovery Center, and he has over a decade of experience in addiction treatment and organizational leadership. Ian is a licensed professional counselor. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and he received a Master of Science degree from Prescott College.

Danette Bivins is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Birmigham, AL, who specializes in mental health wellness and educating other on mental health wellness.

Jimi Judiscak, Human Resources and Agent Development Manager at Expedited Transport Agency, Inc., has a passion for coaching and watching others grow – a passion borne from his five years in recovery from substance use disorder.

Social Work CE Policies:

Program Fee Policy The fee of the event and any additional fees will be clearly communicated to potential participants when registering for the event. There will be no additional charge for a certificate of completion/participation or verification of participation.

Cancellation Policy Registrants may submit a request for a refund to the event organizer and CE authorized individual, Ashley Loftis (ashley@apcbham.org). A request for a refund/cancellation request, which arrives at least 2 days prior to the workshop or event will be honored. Cancellation request that are submitted less than 2 days before the planned event will be reviewed by the event organizer and approved on a case-by-case basis. In the event that the training is canceled, refunds will be issued to registrants through the original registration source.

Grievance Policy Participants that are not satisfied with the event hosted by the Addiction Prevention Coalition may submit a complaint to Ashley Loftis, the CE authorized individual, via email (ashley@apcbham.org). If this complaint cannot be immediately resolved, then, this complaint will be forwarded to the Executive Director for resolution.

Verification of Attendance Verification of participation will be verified through registration and engagement with the event. Participants will be asked to change their name on Zoom to the name that they used to register for the event and the name that will be printed on their certificate of completion/participation. The CE authorized representative will monitor that the participant remains logged into Zoom for the duration of the program.

Requesting CE Credits and Evaluations In order to receive CE hours, participants must have remained logged into the entire program presentation. The participant will need to complete the request for CE hours. The request for CE hours will be provided at the end of the program along with the evaluation. They will also need to complete the program evaluation. A certificate will be issued to the participant within seven days of the completion of the request for CE hours and completion of the program evaluation.
