Please instruct individuals that will be lodging at the Lake Guntersville State Park Lodge to call 256-505-6621 to make their reservations. To ensure that your guests receive the special rate extended to your group, please ask that they mention they are with the AL NICA League, Group Code 8126. Guests can also make reservations online at www.alapark.com/lakeguntersville or by following this link. Please note that a deposit is required for each reservation made. Deposits are the sum of one night’s lodging plus taxes and are due at the time the reservation is made.

Event Details:

The Alabama High School Cycling League’s annual Leaders’ Summit brings together coaches, assistant coaches, ride leaders, parent volunteers, team directors and anyone interested in learning more about our coaching and teaching methods to develop skills and knowledge, share strategy and build community. This conference will promote a well-rounded approach to coaching that creates an environment in which high school students can grow and thrive. This is a great opportunity to spend a weekend in the company of peers and energize for the upcoming season.

Our Summit will be held at the beautiful Lake Guntersville State Park Lodge located in Lake Guntersville, AL. Located along the banks of the Tennessee river in Northeast AL, Lake Guntersville resort state park a resort style retreat and an outdoor adventure in the park's 6,000 acres of natural woodlands. The Park offers . While there we will have access to all camp amenities including:

• Boat Rentals at Town Creek

• Zipline the screaming eagle

• Swimming

• Hiking

• Campfires

• Outdoor Basketball and Volleyball

• Lakefront Activities

Our goal is to make sure all attendees walk away from this summit not only with a wealth of information and some new mountain bike skills, but also having spent time making new friends.

Leadership and Coaching Seminars

Whether your interested in starting a team or a returning coach, the leaders summit is a great way to stay current with league rules and programs, and to learn from others. Saturday topics cover the core principles of working with high school student athletes in the context of an Alabama mountain bike team. The seminars cover basic knowledge all NICA Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Ride Leaders should be aware of and integrate into their team programs.

Teaching Coaches How to Coach Skills

There is so much more to teaching mountain bike skills than just knowing the skills yourself. These courses (Level 1 and Level 2) are designed to help you become a better mountain bike skills coach to best prepare your student athletes for a safe, fun and competitive season of mountain bike racing.

You will also learn about experiential teaching techniques, how to accommodate different learning styles, and how to create a positive learning environment for young riders. The majority of this clinic will be held outdoors, so please bring your bike and appropriate riding and safety gear for the weather.
