Every four years, all eyes focus on Washington, D.C. as the world's most established democracy swears in its President and the new Congress. This January, Washington will host the ceremonies for the new 113th Congress and a re-elected President Barack Obama. The Alaska State Society looks forward to welcoming guests from Alaska to the nation’s capital to witness these historic events.
Taking into account the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s official schedule, the Alaska State Society will host additional events to mark the special occasion. We will start with our 2013 kick-off event, the Alaska Inaugural Reception, set for on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Sonoma Restaurant & Wine Bar, 223 Pennsylvania Ave. SE. Cocktail attire.
The society will host an Open House on Monday, Jan. 21 from 8am to 2pm at Jack Ferguson Associates, 203 Maryland Ave. NE (on the corner at the intersection of Maryland, Constitution and 2nd Avenues, NE), on Capitol Hill in close proximity to the swearing-in site and the inaugural parade.
