Please take note, a few big changes for this year’s AkS SuperDraft 8:

  • The tourney games will be May 9/10 at Cartee
  • Every team will feature a custom SuperDraft 8 jersey
  • We’re planning on 16 men’s (176 players) and 6 women’s teams (66 players).
  • Deadline to get a spot is April 1st, no foolin’
  • The drafts will be live the first weekend of April. This early draft will allow us time to get the jerseys done, will remove the rushed process to the draft, and it will give us more game slots which means more turf usage. This year we’ll have access to all 4 turf fields.
  • After filling the draft spots (176 men, 66 women) we’ll start a wait list.
  • There will still be a check-in event on Friday, May 8, location tba, and one the morning of the event.

  • EARLY CHECK-IN: Friday TBA, 7pm-10pm, We are hosting an early check-in party on Friday, May 8. Come down and check-in/sign-up (and pay if you need to). We'll be giving away a bat and a few other items to those that check-in Friday.

S A T U R D A Y

  • CHECK-IN: Saturday at Cartee, 8 am


  • Women's & Men's games: start at 8:30 am

The SuperDraft is a two day tourney, Saturday and Sunday. If you can’t play both days PLEASE do not sign up. Teams are drafted with the expectation that players can make it to both days games.

Why we do it? Softball season in Alaska is short and every weekend counts. Early season tourneys typically have lower team turnouts but we think it’s not because players don’t want to play it’s just harder to get full teams.

What it is? Our solution is a SuperDraft tournament - think of when you were a kid and you had to choose up teams from everyone that wanted to play. We’re going back to basics, we’re playing to just play. No Nationals berth, no roster checks, nothing, just play the game and make some new friends and shake off the cobwebs from the long Alaska winter.

Who? Were shooting for a 16 team men’s and a 6 team women’s tourney, 11 players to a team so everyone plays. You don’t have to play on a men’s or women’s team, COED PLAYERS are more than welcome and even encouraged. Hell you don’t even need to have a team yet as we’re hoping new players can use the tourney to network a little, show their skills and find a team that fits their play. THIS IS A TWO DAY EVENT, Please don’t sign-up if you can’t commit to playing both days.

How? One of the concerns that has popped up several times is how will the teams be balanced. We can’t guarantee that all the teams will have the same roster and that every game will come down to the last at bat. What we are doing is making sure the people we pick as coaches are knowledgable about the talent that is available and that they are competitive and interested in putting a team together. The draft will be very similar to a fantasy football or baseball draft, 1-16, 16-1 and so on. It will be up to the coach to make the decision about when to grab a pitcher and just how important is a shortstop. We hope by making solid choices for coaches it will help make the rosters a little more balanced.

Here’s what you will get for your $50:

  • 4 game guarantee and everyone plays
  • Official SuperDraft jersey at the event
  • Raffle ticket – everyone will have a shot to walk away with a prize, bat, glove, etc.

Details: Jerseys will be available at the tourney. Draft will take place the first weekend of April.


Be responsible: If you sign-up and can’t make it please let us know prior to the draft.


Tourney rules

  • Games will have a 50 minute limit, Championship and if game will not have a time limit. Double elimination bracket seeding will be determined by Round Robin games. Please hustle in and out to try and to keep the games on time.
  • Run Rule is 15 after 5, you’re here to play and have fun.
  • All approved ASA bats will be allowed for this event.
  • No Senior or Altered/Shaved bats allowed. If we suspect you are using one or get enough complaints about one we will ask you to remove it from play. Our guess is that every team will have 7-10 bats in their dugout so this will not be an issue so let’s keep this event clean.
  • HR rules will be 2 and progressive per game, with the special twist, each team will be allowed to designate an unrestricted player each game. What does the tag get you? Well, if you are unrestricted the home run limits don’t pertain to you nor do your home runs count in the team’s totals, you can still strike out but a walk gets you to second base.
  • The teams are usually pretty evenly matched as long as everyone is honest with their level of play designation for the draft.
  • All other rules will be standard Anchorage Sports rules.
