The School of New and Continuing Studies is pleased to host the annual meeting of AJCU-DACE Conference at Seattle University in October. 

Conference Registration Fee: $250

The Edgewater Hotel Group Rate: $220/night rate, October 18th through October 20th

Wednesday, October 18th

3:00-5:00 PM   Check-in at The Edgewater Hotel 

5:00-5:15 PM   Meet in the hotel lobby to walk together to Black Bottle or arrange to take the

                        hotel shuttle. Complimentary hotel shuttle within 1.5-mile radius of hotel.

                        Sign up in hotel lobby. Hotel shuttle leaves at the top of every hour. 

5:30 PM           Dinner at Black Bottle

8:00 PM           Return to The Edgewater Hotel


Thursday, October 19th

7:30 AM           Shuttle departs The Edgewater Hotel to Seattle University

7:45 AM           Breakfast Admissions Building (ADAL): Stewart T. Rolfe Community Room

8:15 AM           Welcome from the Interim Provost Bob Dullea


Sessions on "Collaborating in Our Communities"


8:30-10:00 AM  Collaborating with Community Colleges:

                         How to Support CC Transfer Students

                         Based on the research from "Threading the Needle of the American Dream"

                         and EAB's "Paving the Path to Transfer", participants work through

                         discussion prompts, identify current institutional barriers, and

                         pinpoint actionable policy and/or workflow changes.

10-10:15 AM     Break

10:15-noon       Building Relationships with Local Employers: Professional

                          Development Programs for Today's Workforce

                          Facilitators: Dr. Scott Campbell, Vice-President for Higher Education Council

                                             Adult & Experiential Learning (CAEL)

                                             Dr. Walter Pearson, Dean School for Continuing and

                                             Professional Studies, Loyola University, Chicago

                          Facilitated discussion on best practice for building and sustaining

                          professional development programs with local employers.

                          Speaker: Dr. Stephanie J. Russell, Vice President for Mission Integrity, AJCU

1:00-2:30 PM   EAB Presentation: "What's Working: Hot Programs for the Next Five Years"

                        Speakers:  Stephen Teske, Strategic Research Consultant, EAB

                                          Lauren Edmonds, Consultant, Enrollment Strategy, EAB   

2:30-2:45 PM   PechaKucha Presentations        

                        Back by popular demand. Sign-up to share your recent innovations/successes

                        with a PechaKucha presentation. Presentations should be in the PechaKucha

                        style with 20 slides shown for 20 seconds each (6 minutes and 40 seconds

                        total per presentation). Email Trish Henley at to

                        sign-up for a presentation spot. 

3:45-4:45 PM  Reflection, Synthesis, & Take-Aways

4:45 PM           Shuttle back to The Edgewater Hotel

8-10:00 AM     Business Meeting 

                       Topics include transitioning to new leadership; travel grants for smaller sister 

                       institutions (application process and grant award criteria); and any new


10-11 AM        Visit to the Center for Digital Learning and Innovation

11-noon          Campus Tour

Noon               Box Lunches (11:45 AM delivery)

12:30 PM        Shuttle back to The Edgewater Hotel
