Event description

Description

Air and noise pollution represent significant risks to health and quality of life in urban communities across the world. At this event, you will have the opportunity to join LaGuardia faculty to collect actual data regarding air and noise pollution surrounding the LaGuardia campus. We will collect data on a variety of common air pollutants including ozone, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide, as well as noise pollution using hand held monitors. Our hope is that this data will be shared with the Environmental Protection Agency and other organizations in order to contribute to a greater understanding of the exact nature of the air and noise pollution challenges facing our community. By participating in this event, you will be serving as a "citizen scientist" while also gaining a nice experience to add to your resume, fulfilling one of your co-curriculular requirements (for FYS students) or finishing up your digital badge requirements (for students who participated in one of our spring 2017 STEM co-curricular digital badging events). See you then! We will meet at 1:50 in the main lobby of the E building (Facing Thomson Avenue). More details regarding digital badging can be found on our ePortfolio at https://lagcc-cuny.digication.com/stem_cocurricular_digital_badging
