Ain Dah Yung Center's 8th Annual Tobacco Prevention and Wellness Symposium

Provides participant youth the opportunity to learn about living a healthy lifestyle and contributing to healthy communities, all within a cultural context. Youth will have hands on learning experiences and connect with community leaders regarding the risks of harmful use of commercial tobacco, substance abuse, and diabetes awareness that promote living a healthy lifestyle.

  • Attracts approximately 200 – 250 Native youth from around the state each year.

  • Fun physical health and wellness activities provided.

  • Each youth participant receives a t-shirt and swag bag loaded with cool stuff, AND the opportunity to win some really, really cool prizes! Play Stations, Xbox, tablets, sports equipment, cash prizes and so much more!

  • We encourage you to bring your regalia and join in the mini pow wow to celebrate the end of this wonderful day! Regalia is optional. Limited male and female regalia will be available onsite to borrow.

  • Continental breakfast, lunch, dessert snacks and refreshments will be provided to all participants!


Are there minimum or maximum age requirement to enter the event?

This event is intended for American Indian youth, ages 12-18. We welcome groups to attend the symposium and encourage you in providing a sufficient number of chaperones for adequate supervision. If you are a chaperone or adult accompanying your group or youth to the event, you are responsible for their behaviors during all activities. Tribal youth programs, school groups, foster parents and social workers are highly encouraged to bring youth and/or support youth attendance, so please share far and wide with your networks.

If I'm an adult and DO NOT have a child attending this event, may I still attend?

No, not unless you have been explicitely invited to attend the event as a chaperone or volunteer. Please keep in mind that this is a youth-focused event and is not intended for an adult audience.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The event is located downtown St. Paul for easy access to Metro Transit options. Parking is conveniently located in the Town Square Parking Ramp (adjacent to the event venue) at 405 N. Minnesota Street, St. Paul, MN 55101. Vouchers will be provided (for registered attendees only) at the event.
